She had an air of importance about her as she looked down on the Clan below her. Stretching herself to properly look over the cats mingling about below, she let out a yowl:
“All cats old enough to catch their own prey – gather below for a Clan announcement!”
As cats began to disperse into the clearing below, Jadestar rested herself against her hind legs. The clearing finally mostly full, she decided to take care of the first part of her business.
“I have called you here for two important matters. Firstly, it has been two moons since Shadownose has gone missing. There appears to be no sign of his imminent return either. Therefore, I am announcing that Cherrypaw should succeed her mentor as RiverClan’s new medicine cat. She has studied under Shadownose for some time and received proper knowledge that I think will be sufficient to aid our Clan solely. That going, I believe she deserves her full name, which is rather late overdue. Cherrypaw, if you will,” she meowed, beckoning for the cat to come forward as she finished.
“Cherrypaw, from this moment forth you shall be known as Cherryleaf – may you watch over us with the eyes of StarClan as our new medicine cat.”
Jadestar bowed for a moment to the new medicine cat, her eyes then shifting to her Clan. She’d allow them to celebrate for a few more moments before continuing her speech and revealing to them her plan.

Blossompetal trotted happily out of the warriors' den at Jadestar's call, her tail and head high. She'd woken up only a while ago and was spending her time resting and cleaning her short, brown tabby pelt so it was clean for her activities for the day.
Cherrypaw slid into the clearing, squinting a bit in the sunlight. It was much darker, with patches of sunlight of course, in the medicine den. It was a perfect day, yet she could feel the cold days of leaf-bare reaching the Clans again. Unfortunately, it's simply something that the cats cannot get away from- the seasons turning are a sign of change and though they are a circle and repeat every year, every day is different so every time a season comes by again, it's always even the slightest bit different.
Cherrypaw's ears perked up at the calling over her name and she padded over to the RiverClan leader, her eyes shining. Of course the she-cat wasn't happy about her mentor's disappearance, but receiving one's name meant one has taken a step up in maturity, and, in a medicine cat's case, knowledge of herbs and to help one's Clanmates.
When given her new suffix, Cherryleaf dipped her head, "Thank you, Jadestar." She held herself back. Cherryleaf wanted to yowl and bounce around in excitement, but there was no room for acting like a kit or apprentice when she was the Clan's full medicine cat. Soon I'll get my own apprentice.. I'll need to be ready and be able to act mature to show the right examples to my apprentice. Cherrlyeaf thought, taking a seat next to Blossompetal, who yowled her new name.

Sourpaw was already in the RiverClan camp clearing when Jadestar stepped out onto Tall Stone. The tabby tom was sitting in a patch of sunlight, waiting for his mother to come with a promised trout. He squinted at the silhouette of Jadestar against the over cast skies before he stood from his spot to move closer, making sure he would be able to hear the leader perfectly clear.
The small tom jumped when the near silent form of his mother crept up beside him, a silvery trout clamped tightly in her ivory fangs. Sourpaw licked his lips at the fresh smell of the fish and looked at Tawnywing with begging eyes. The warrior giggled around the prey and set it in front of her son's paws. The tawny she cat licked the young cat's ever sour pelt in a show of motherly affection. The pair's attention was dragged back to the proceedings by Jadestar's ringing voice.
Tawnywing felt a pang at the reminder of Shadownose's disappearance. Even though the two were not close, she grew up with Shadownose as her medicine cat, she had a few memories with Shadownose healing her of various injuries. The warrior bowed her head for a moment to send a prayer to StarClan to take care of the former medicine cat, wherever he may be.
Sourpaw grinned at Cherryleaf. She was older than him but he was still a fellow apprentice of hers and he felt proud to call her "friend". Sourpaw called out Cherryleaf's name along with the rest of the clan. He glanced over at Tawnywing when she called out Cherryleaf's name with dim enthusiasm.
Tawnywing was happy for Cherryleaf, but it was the second half of Jadestar's announcement that had the RiverClan cat thoughtful. Tawnywing was reminded of their conversation only a few short moons ago and wondered if Jadestar would act on her words. Tawnywing flicked her tail as the clan settled down and waited eagerly for Jadestar's next words.

They were congratulating Cherryleaf on her new name and position in the Clan. Regardless, Jadestar did not seem to be at ease in the least bit. Her medium-length grey fur shifted uneasily as she settled down into a proper sitting position. Her emerald-hued eyes stared into the crowd and began to slowly cloud over with a strange emotion. – Gentleheart watched as Cherryleaf was named and let out a kind purr at the new medicine cat, rather pleased. It was disheartening that Shadownose disappeared, but it was a personal relief that Cherryleaf had the full position. Although she often attempted to avoid getting sick or hurt, Cherryleaf had always helped her sufficiently, and she quite liked the cat as well. The grey-and-white she-cat let out a calm yowl of approval for Cherryleaf, offering a small lick on her shoulder as she passed. However, as she looked up at her sister on the Tall Stone once more, a look of worry swept over her. Something wasn’t right. Dappledcoat, on the other hand, appeared rather worn and tired – likely from a small brush of greencough that wasn’t serious enough to keep her from her duties. The mottled she-cat led the way into camp, nodding to Cherryleaf as she got received her proper name. The she-cat’s golden eyes shifted across the clearing, noticing her sister and Sourpaw. A look of disgust appeared on her maw for a moment before she refocused on her leader, not daring to make conversation with any cat. As she hacked out a small cough, her eyes shifted up to the leader as she began to continue. Her head tilted slightly to the side, confused by the look in her leader’s eyes. – Jadestar looked down upon her Clan, attempting to shake her thoughts clear before she began once more: “Now, as you all know, ThunderClan stole Sunningrocks from us long ago. It was under Runningstar that we fought our last battle and suffered terrible loss, including Runningstar himself. However, I believe it is finally time that we take back what is rightfully ours – for Runningstar’s honor! For our pride as RiverClanners!
ThunderClan has been lacking strong warriors from what I hear, and after seeing WindClan at the Gathering I’m sure we can assume ThunderClan might be in the same condition. Therefore, it is our time to strike!
Tonight, after the moon is bright in the sky, all of our warriors shall gather together and in the dark of night – proceed with myself and Stonybrook across the River into ThunderClan territory. All warriors and apprentices of proper age and approval will join me later tonight at the stepping stones. I pray StarClan watch over us all as we finally take back what is rightfully ours!”There was a proper glimmer in her eye as she finished a smirk on her lips. Jadestar had never felt so courageous and right in her mind as in this moment. With that, she flicked her tail and left the Tall Stone to join the cats below in the clearing. – Gentleheart stared up at her sister, shocked by the news. However, a strange feeling deep down inside of her felt powerful and excited. This was it – the battle she had wanted. Granted, she was a pacifist, but this was an entirely different matter. As Jadestar finished, she couldn’t help but let out a yowl in agreement of the leader’s decision. Dappledcoat cursed herself silently for being a tad ill during such an important time. Regardless, she was excited for a battle to gain back Sunningrocks. This could be a new beginning for her. | [atrb=style, background: #A7EF6D;border: 0px;][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, border: solid #FFFFFF 0px; width: 300px; height: 20px; float: center; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px;] L E A D E R O F R I V E R CL A N [/style][/style] | [atrb=style, background: #CFEF6D;border: 0px;][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, border: solid #FFFFFF 0px; width: 300px; height: 5px; float: center; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px;] [/style][/style] | table layout design made by minty |

Cherryleaf purred in happiness at the sound of her new name ringing around the clearing from her Clanmates. She blinked and her tail flicked, "Thank you, my friends and my Clanmates." The medicine cat meowed, looking around at her Clanmates.
After the happiness of looking around at her Clanmates dissolved at what Jadestar said next. The happiness turned into fear, any one of these cats that are here now may not come back tonight.. She thought with a nervous gulp. It'll be my first time treating a bunch of cats that will probably be seriously injured.. I hope I don't cause any lives to be gone... I just hope StarClan will allow all of these cats to still be able to come to the Clan meetings in later days. She could feel her heart beat faster and Cherryleaf took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. It was probably obvious to her Clanmates that she was feeling sick with nervousness. Cherryleaf looked over at her littermate and whispered, "Be careful."

Tawnywing smiled gently at the Cherryleaf's words and gave her a nod of encouragement. She turned her head to look at Sourpaw who grinned back at his mother, butting his head against her chin with a purr. He gave her a happy look before darting out from under Tawnywing's paws and padding over to his mentor Gentleheart.
Taking a sitting position beside his mentor, Sourpaw couldn't help but be enthralled by Jadestar's words. His grey eyes sparkled as he watched every movement of Jadestar and her confident voice. Sourpaw didn't know Runningstar at all but glancing at the expression on the other RiverClan cats' faces told him enough. Runningstar was obviously respected and loved by all of his clan. Too bad Sourpaw didn't notice the slightly dark look on his mother's face.
Sourpaw grinned at his mentor's cry of agreement with Jadestar's words and let out his won cry of excitement. He was shifting his weight from paw to paw and turned to his mentor with a grin. "Gentleheart! We need to get training right away if we want to be ready for battle!" The young tom paused and looked cautiously at his mentor. "I can come, right?" He asked pleadingly.
Fox lengths away from Sourpaw, Tawnywing could feel a shiver of anticipation run through her. Not being able to stay still any longer, she got to her paws and paced among her clanmates, watching their reactions. Seeing that it was a mixture between worry and excitement, the she cat trotted closer to Jadestar, hoping to have a word with the leader.
