Name: Graykit -> Graypaw -> Grayfur Gender: Male Clan: WindClan Rank: Warrior Age: 23 moons Description: A small, wiry tom with long gray fur and greenish eyes. Personality: Perhaps the most obvious thing about Grayfur is that he has an exceedingly good 'poker face.' Or, in terms more familiar to cats, Grayfur rarely shows his emotions. He is very good at hiding any sort of emotion, should he wish it. Of course, Grayfur has had practice at containing his emotions since the early days of his life, so it stands to reason that agood at it. After such a long time at hiding his emotions, Grayfur is pretty good at it. It certainly helps that a cat's body isn't naturally the most expressive of things, allowing Grayfur to hide his emotions from the cats around him. He may occasionally choose to share his emotions with others, but Grayfur is often a solemn cat whose personality seems to mirror his fur - a boring gray. More than once, Grayfur's siblings have called Grayfur emotionless because he hid emotions so well, even as a kit. That is an entirely untrue statement. Grayfur simply rarely feels strong emotions. He is typically a very calm tom-cat. His emotions are almost never particularly strong, which certainly also contributes to his ability to hide his emotions with ease.
Grayfur is not a people person. He is a loner at heart, and it shows in the fact that Grayfur doesn't socialize particularly willingly. He mostly keeps to himself, rarely relying on others for anything. This means that Grayfur isn't a good candidate for patrols, because he isn't likely to turn to his other patrolmates for help in skirmishes. He is stubborn in the sense that he never turns to others for help, even if he is extremely overwhelmed. If Grayfur turns to another cat for help, it is a sign of his immense trust in that cat. For a Clan cat, this is definitely not a very good attribute. Clan cats need to work together, after all. But Grayfur rarely does that. He prefers to handle everything as well as he can by himself.
Mostly due to his calm temperament, Grayfur is a very logical cat. His actions are driven by his thoughts, rather than his emotions. Grayfur rarely does anything without thinking it through. He will consider the possible repercussions of his actions before he actually does anything and for Grayrfur, doing something without serious thought being put into it only really happens during battles. Other than times when adrenaline is pounding in his small body, Grayfur is the kind of cat who thinks through. He is not an impulsive male. He plans his actions, rather than doing anything on the spur of the moment.
Typically a quiet cat, Grayfur is not known for his talkative nature or anything along those lines. In fact, he rarely talks. Mostly, Grayfur allows his carefully controlled body language to do the conversing for him. If he is posed a yes or no question, Grayfur will nod or shake his head. When the situation requires that Grayfur actually talk, he will talk as little as he can, and on that rare occasion that Grayfur is talking willingly, he generally only does it because he feels that he could contribute something by talking. Mostly, this is only when Grayfur is with his current apprentice and teaching them. Of course, there are other situations when Grayfur will talk on his initiative, but those are few and far between. Mostly, Grayfur only talks when the situation requires it of him, and then he only talks as much as he has to. He doesn't pad his sentences with extra thoughts.
History (optional): Patchfur - Father/Mentor, Elder Heronstep - Mother, Elder Stormclaw - Sister, Warrior Blackfang - Brother, Warrior
The romance between Patchfur and Heronstep was a fleeting one. It came and went in moments, leaving the childhood friends on pretty good terms and none the worse for the wear. They still chatted every once in a while, but Patchfur was often busy patrolling. Still, the moment that Heronstep showed the first sign of her pregnancy, her old friend was at her side. He wasn't interested in being her mate, but the pair were quite all right with raising the kits together, even if they weren't romantically interested in each other in the least. Perhaps it was an unconventional way to bring the litter of three kits into the world, but it was one that they made work.
The birthing was fairly easy, and by the end, three little kits had been brought into WindClan's moors. There were two males and a little female kitten. The first one, Graykit, was a small gray kitten with bits of tan and white to his fur, and was named for the dominant gray shading of his fur. Stormkit, the only she-cat of the litter, was also named for the predominant gray in her fur, which looked more like the heavy gray of stormclouds than Graykit's fur had. Blackkit, the smallest of the litter, had pure black fur.
From the start, it was clear that Graykit was the leader of his litter. He often got his siblings into trouble along with him, convincing the skittish Stormkit and the bold Blackkit to go along with his schemes with ease. Even early on, it was clear that Graykit was good at getting into the minds of others and was good at figuring out just what he needed to say to convince them to go along with his admittedly harebrained schemes. As they drew closer to apprenticehood, Graykit's schemes got more dangerous. The trio very nearly got out of camp more than once, and only the watchful eye of Heronstep kept them from escaping and getting into even more trouble. Graykit accepted the punishments, never trying to weasel out of them, and rarely showing any upset about his punishments. In fact, Graykit rarely showed any sort of emotion at all. He was a very contained cat, even as a kit.
At long last, the day came that Graykit and his siblings would become apprentices. Heronstep had her paws full ensuring that her kits looked presentable for the apprenticeship ceremony. She managed to get them there in one piece and looking fairly nice, just in time for the ceremony to start, and Graykit sat impatiently, watching as Blackkit was renamed Blackpaw and entered into apprenticeship. Next was Stormkit, who was renamed Stormpaw, and at last, it was Graykit's turn. He walked proudly up to the leader, and listened happily as he was called Graypaw and his new mentor was named. Graypaw was actually apprenticed to his father, Patchfur, who was surprised and delighted. He had a fairly typical apprenticeship, other than the fact that his father was his mentor. Graypaw learned to hunt on WindClan's moors, and learned to be fleet of paw as well as how to fight. He tested his prowess against his fellow apprentices and his father time and time again. His first true test came in a border skirmish, when Graypaw accidentally crossed into another Clan's territory while in pursuit of a rabbit. He was attacked by a warrior that had been on patrol and Graypaw held his own surprisingly well, fleeing swiftly across the border and back into WindClan's territory.
His final test came when a rogue trespassed into the WindClan's territory. Graypaw had been hunting by himself when he discovered the rogue, and instead of sounding the alarm and possibly losing the creature, he launched himself at the rogue and defeated the rogue, driving the cat away. He was honored for keeping his head while under pressure by his warrior name - Grayfur. Shortly after he became a warrior, his siblings did too, becoming Stormclaw and Blackfang respectively. The three siblings had drifted apart during their apprenticeship, however, and now made their way down their own paths.
Grayfur got his first apprentice about six moons after becoming a warrior. She was a small thing, but full of personality. Grayfur wasn't a huge fan of the apprentice herself, but he found training her to be enjoyable. Grayfur liked imparting his knowledge to her, surprisingly enough, and he looked on proudly when the young she-cat was given a warrior name, a bit earlier than the rest of her siblings, mostly because of how swiftly she learned.
