His green eyes surveyed around, his breathing accelerating as excitement pulsed through his veins. Galekit snuck a look behind him at his adoptive mother, Spottedfern, who appeared to be in a mid-morning snooze at the moment. She was curled up in the heart of the nursery, keeping warm from the chilly weather outside. A glimmer came into Galekit's eyes.
Being ever careful with his white paws, the tomcat slyly snuck out of the nursery and into the heart of camp. Not too many cats were present at the moment, but Galekit did not care. Spottedfern had warned him many times about going out without her, despite him being practically apprentice age, and she always swore he'd get into terrible trouble if he was not escorted. Galekit usually stuck out his tongue at her (not facing her, of course) and did not think much about punishment. He wanted to get out and into camp!
Galekit's first stop was the apprentice den. Several cats were still inside, snoozing away bits of their morning. The ginger-and-white tomcat tilted his head at them, pondering how much he wanted to be in their place. He loved his mother, of course, but he felt trapped in the nursery after spending so much time there - he wanted to be an apprentice already!

Burntpaw was flicking her white tipped tail lazily as she watched with hazed eyes the spot where Galepaw had once lay just a short moon and a half ago. The she cat rubbed a paw subconsciously against the old burn marks on her face. Burntpaw had always adored the tom for his sunny personality and how easily the tom over looked her scars. Burtnpaw lowered her paw slolwy, her eyes just transfixed by the green moss that still resided in the apprentice den like some reminder of Galepaw. Burntpaw snorted, all that the clan had left to remember him by was a pile of old moss and hold in the ground where his body resided after the attack.
Burntpaw was pulled out of her depressed thoughts by the sound of little pawsteps. The she cat tensed and turned to see it was Galekit. Burntpaw relaxed again and sent the other ginger cat a smile.
"Hello Galekit. What are you doing here at the apprentice den?" She meowed, tilting her head to the sider curiously.

He hadn't realized any of the apprentices to be awake, and it took him quite off-guard. Shaking his fur nonchalantly, as if he had meant to jump backward, the ginger tomcat looked up at Burntpaw. He hadn't been out of the nursery too much, but he remembered Spottedfern telling him about the other cats in the Clan - including Burntpaw. She was older than him, and had appeared to suffer something in her past - though Spottedfern never told him exactly. He could see the burn marks that lingered upon the apprentice, and for a moment he felt a pang of sympathy towards her for having to carry that burden. Galekit, despite his young age, shook away the thoughts a moment later, for he knew that he shouldn't think of those marks as a burden for her. He didn't know anything about her or her story.
He shifted his paws, looking around camp, and was glad to see the nearest warrior pass right on by without noticing him.
"I'm, uh, on an adventure!" he meowed out after stumbling over his words. The glimmer in his eye had returned and a smirk appeared on his maw. Within seconds, his tail was flicking back and forth excitedly as he glanced around the apprentice den.
"Why's everyone asleep here? It's almost sunhigh!" he meowed, partially to himself.

Burntpaw laughed deeply at the kit before her, blue eyes sparkling. She trotted out of the den t sit next to the kit, purposefully blocking the view of the kit from the rest of the clan. Burntpaw put one scarred paw on the kits head and ruffled the fur. "They're just lazy like that! The great life of being an apprentice isn't all it cracks up to be! It's alot of hard work that will make you want to sleep for an whole day!" Burntpaw meowed, still with holding her laughs.
"But no worries! I'm sure you will have a great mentor and become one of the greatest warriors in the clan!:' She chirped, hoping to calm the kit's fears.

Frostfoot stretched in her nest, her legs trembling with the effort, as her neck arched back and her jaws opened wide in a magnificent yawn. Her blue eyes blinked open miserably. It was a moon and a half ago that Galepaw died, and a moon ago that Galekit and Moonkit had been brought into ShadowClan. She sighed softly and rose from her nest and padded out into the clearing. She was immediately greeted by an icy breeze and she shivered with immediate coldness. She stood in the center of camp, telling the warriors who was to do what and when they were to do it. When the patrols were set for the day, Frostfoot padded over to the fresh kill pile and dug out toad. She carried it stiffly over to a spot away from the other cats and nibbled at her meal absently as her eyes locked onto the nursery. Sunhigh came around and finally a small ginger and white tom poked his head out the nursery. Frostfoot's ears flicked up in interest as the tom padded over to the apprentices' den. He scooted out of the den, followed by Burntpaw. Frostfoot strained her ears forward, desperate to hear what they were talking about. A mentor for Galekit? Frostfoot narrowed her eyes. She wanted desperately to mentor her son as she got up and padded over to the two, leaving her toad mostly eaten.
"Galekit, are you bothering my apprentices again?" She mewed teasingly and clouted him over the ear gently, playfully. She sat tall, her tail wrapped neatly around her white paws. "How are you today, Burntpaw?" She asked softly, but her eyes stayed locked onto Galekit, her blue eyes betraying her admiration for the kit. "Kind of chilly if you ask me." She mewed softly, finally tearing her gaze away from Galekit and staring kindly at Burntpaw. Her eyes ventured back to Galekit. "Say, young ones, I'm going for a walk later this afternoon, would you two like to accompany me?" Frostfoot asked. She wanted a chance to spend time with her son, but not make it look to obvious and decided to take Burntpaw if she wanted to go as well.

Though the small red-and-white kitten knew not to expect much after his sixth moon, he always thought when he became an apprentice that adventures would be around every corner and he’d never get a chance to sleep in. Glancing down at the other apprentices snoozing away, he smiled back up at Burntpaw. She was a very kind cat, and he quite liked her very much at this point. He let out a purr, quite louder than he meant (making his face flush in front of Burntpaw in embarrassment), and look away as Frostfoot entered the den.
Galekit suddenly straightened himself up. Fastfoot was a kind she-cat, but he knew that she was also the deputy. Sometimes he thought that she gave him preferential treatment, but he always pushed that thought away – there’s no way Fastfoot would be extra kind to him except that he was still a young’un. Regardless, after Frostfoot’s bat to his head, Galekit could not hold back a playful grin. At the mentioning of a stroll with the deputy and Burntpaw, Galekit’s soft, fluff-covered ears perked up.
“Ah! Yes! Of course I’ll go!” he meowed, so fast he almost trembled over the sentence. After a moment’s thought he readjusted himself and meowed nonchalantly: “That is, if Burntpaw wants to…”

Burntpaw had to have a laugh at the look on the kits face. She pressed her slightly wet nose into the kit's fur in a show of comfort. "Don't sound so surprised." She meowed gently, an equally gentle smile on her maw.
The apprentice jumped at the appearance of the deputy but she quickly recovered with a respectful nod to the cat. "Oh no worries Frostfoot, Galekit here could never be an annoyance." She joked with a fond smile at the kit. "He's just too cute for that."
"I feel rather energized! I bet I could run around ShadowClan territory three times!" She answered jokingly. The ginger apprentice didn't miss the way the deputy's eyes stayed glued to the kit the entire time. Burntpaw shifted her weight closer to Galekit and figured that the deputy was just fond of kits. Burntpaw felt a stab of pity when she realized that Frostfoot was not allowed to have kits because of her position.
Burntpaw quickly tuned back into the conversation in time to hear Galekit's response. Burntpaw matched the kits grin. "Of course I would love to go! Have you ever been out of camp, Galekit?" She asked curiously, suddenly remembering her first time out of ShadowClan camp. The ginger couldn't suppress a shiver of fear that crawled through her spine and quickly disguised it with a lick to her pelt. Her baby blue eyes lingered on her scared paws with a frown of thought. That fateful day that lead to the loss of her family and possibly her chances with a mate. I mean, who would want to have a mate that looked so ugly with scars? Burntpaw dug her claws into the earth to lock down on the urge to let out a bitter laugh.

He was very flattered and appeared to be developing some-what of a crush on the older apprentice. Although some cats found her unsightly because of her burn scars, Galekit was at such a fragile and pure stage that he did not find anything bad about her scars. If nothing else, he thought more highly of Burntpaw because she had such a burden to bear and was so strong about it all.
The small tomcat’s eyes sparkled as Burntpaw agreed to go, but he quickly turned away, trying to calm himself. He was getting much too flustered now. Taking a deep breath, Galekit reminded himself that he needed to be mature; a moment later he turned back, calm and collected, and gazed toward Frostfoot to find where they were to be going.

Burntpaw stood, at the same time shaking herself of her dark thoughts, and took the lead before Frostfoot could. "Hey! I have an idea! What if we go to the looking pool? I know its kind of out of the way, but I don't want to take Galekit out near the marshes incase..." The ginger she cat trailed off, turning her eyes away from the two cats in front of her. What she was really going to say was to avoid the monster that had killed Galekit's namesake.
Burntpaw shook all thoughts of Galepaw away once more and raised her head to look at Galekit, interested in what he wanted. She enjoyed the Looking Pool because of how beautiful it looked. The tales she would always be told as a kit were about true loves meeting there. Burntpaw blushes slightly at the thought. They were just stupid kit tales anyway, who actually believed in such stories.
Notes: I wanted Frosty to post first but I guess she has been gone for a while, but I love where this thread is going. So I apologize if I'm kind of bumping Frosty out of the thread. Words: Tag: Burntpaw, Frostfoot, Galekit
