FrostfootEvery time we touch I get this feeling, Every time we kiss I swear I can fly, Can't you feel my heart beat fast I want this to lastThe moon shone brightly overhead and, even though its light was beautiful on Fourtrees, the towering oaks looked daunting. The clearing was always so full of cats, the unnatural silence gripped the she-cat's heart like an icy claw. She stifled a shudder and she padded into the clearing, scaling ShadowClan's oak tree little by little until she was on the top branch that would hold her weight. It sagged slightly as she jumped onto it and she dug her creamy colored claws in deep until it stopped moving. She sat down and it swayed ever so slightly, but Frostfoot didn't care. She stared at the starry sky, seeking out the brightest star. "Is that you, mother? I miss you so much, why did you have to leave?" Frostfoot's voice croaked with grief.
A soft breeze blew through her fur, singing as it Frostfoot let her mother's scent wreath around her. A voice in the wind whispered to the ShadowClan deputy. "I am always here, my daughter, always." The voice was achingly familiar, and it was fading. "No! Lilybreeze! Come back, stay with me!" Frostfoot leaped to her paws, not caring if the branch below her trembled. Her yowl echoed into the night sky, filled with pain and anger. If they hadn't fought Thunderclan all those moons ago, her mother Lilybreeze would still be alive. What made her death all the more shocking was that the leader and medicine cat of Thunderclan worked together to kill Lilybreeze, and Frostfoot was only Frostkit. She was five moons old when her mother died.
Anger bubbled beneath Frostfoot's pelt, flowing through her like the river in full flood. Her eyes were like chips of ice, but it lasted only a moment. She sank into a crouch, gripping the branches with her sharp claws. She closed her blue eyes and sighed, the breeze dancing through her fur again and then stilled. The world around the deputy seemed to grow silent, not even crickets below sang their songs. FourTrees seemed to be grieving for Lilybreeze as much as Frostfoot. Suddenly, a gust of wind crashed through FourTrees, pushing Frostfoot off the branch. She yowled with alarm as she struggled to get on the branch, clawing it, and dangling like a helpless piece of prey that knew it was a goner.
The wind rattled the branches of the trees and, with a shriek of terror, Frostfoot plummeted through the branches of the oak, luckily not hitting any. She hit the ground, feeling the air blasted forcefully from her chest. She groaned as she lay motionless on the ground. Nothing hurt except her side, and it only ached. A burning sensation tingled in her right forepaw, but she was afraid to move it. She groaned as she tried to get up anyway. Pain shot through her as she tried, but the deputy ignored it. Panting, she was in a sitting position, her head and shoulders sagging with the effort. Notes: Eh, not my best Muse: Acceptable Lyrics: Heaven - DJ Sammy

Frustration can be devastating to the body. Muscles tense up to points where they become painful under your pelt, claws dig deep into the earth, longing for a release, and a tight feeling in your chest. The urge to yowl, and hiss builds up until it becomes unbarable to be you. To be in your skin, feel your frustration, your anger, your failures eating away at your insides, at your heart. Everything you do takes too much effort, you just want to lay in your nest and stay there.
However, that’s not the way things worked.
Getting up, doing your duties, dealing with issues. Mentors, apprentices, elders, warriors, kits, queens! All your responsilibilty and you can’t do anything to change that. You were chosen for deputy, in turn became leader, and that’s something you must live with and accept, even when things became hard.
The dark gray tom’s mind swam with thoughts of failure, of anger, and grief. He hated feeling like this, hated feeling like he had the weight of the world on his shoulders.
Stormstar wasn’t used to this much pressure, he was young for being a leader, and sometimes, he felt like he couldn’t handle it anymore. The urge to get up and leave the camp for awhile nagged at his paws, and after fighting the feeling for a good five minutes, he burst from his nest and shot out of his nest.
A warrior slunk out of the warriors den sleepy eyed, and drowsy, moved towards the dirt place, not even acknowledging that the leader was leaving in a hurry as if there was a fire in his den. Stormstar didn’t mind in the slightest. If he could get out without being noticed, he wouldn’t have to address questions of concern, or have anyone accompany him.
Out on the moor of WindClan territory, he felt the cool night air carress his lithe body, in a tantalizingly touch which sent a shiver down his spine.
Where he was going, was not hard to figure out. He was headed in that direction as soon as he stepped out of the camp. Fourtrees. There he wasn’t going to be followed, and though a few cats were known to go there, it was a very slim possibility that he would be confronted by anyone and that suited him just fine. Glancing around, Stormstar stepped into Fourtrees and instantly freezed.
ShadowClan.
Instantly, every hair on his body stood up against his skin, and he felt his body tense. This was not what he wanted, but he took a few more steps and glanced around for the source of the stench. The scent wasn’t that strong, so he decided that there would be no more than one or two of them. Yellow eyes shooting around he pinpointed a orange and white cat in the ShadowClan oak.
Stormstar didn’t recognize the cat. His brow furrowed as he watched the cat, uncertain of the gender as of late. Tip of his tail flicking, he jumped slightly when it shrieked and fell from the branch. Stormstar stood there stunned, unmoving. It was an enemy cat, yet he was concerned. They seemed alright, but you never know what can happen when you fall from that height. After another heart beat, he walked forward towards the cat.
As he got closer, he was able to distinguish the gender, and from the closer proximity, recognized her. It was Frostfoot, the ShadowClan deputy. He felt slightly embarrassed at himself for not recognizing her sooner, but that was a matter for a different time. An enemy deputy, playing leader up in the tree? That seemed less then suspicious.
“Frostfoot? Are you OK?” Stormstar asked, trying to keep his voice cool, despite the concern for her.

FrostfootEvery time we touch I get this feeling, Every time we kiss I swear I can fly, Can't you feel my heart beat fast I want this to lastA voice echoed in Frostfoot's ears as she blinked her blue eyes open, the world seemed to spin around her and several pelts brushed against hers, encouraging her to get up. She looked around slowly, her head throbbing, and realized that no other cat was around except for the WindClan leader, Stormstar. Her mother's scent filled the air around Frostfoot, and her sweet, gentle voice filled her ears. Frostfoot, oh Frostfoot. My kit, please get up! Please! StarClan isn't ready to accept you yet. You have much to offer your clan still. Oh my kit, please get up. Frostfoot groaned as she felt a muzzle touch her gentle on the shoulder and a tongue rasp over her neck. She knew it was the spirit of her mother and she knew she had to get up. The deputy groaned with effort as she lifted herself up on trembling legs, only to fall to the ground again.
She hissed as pain shot up her leg, surging through her body. That's it, my Frostfoot. Get up! You are almost on your paws. Lilybreeze whispered softly as a gentle breeze danced through Frostfoot's pelt, seeming to push her upward. Finally, the she-cat was in a sitting position, head and shoulders sagging with the effort. Her heart was racing in her chest from the fall. Her chest throbbed as coughing shook Frostfoot's body. She looked at Stormstar with pained eyes. "Thyme. I need thyme for shock, and feverfew. Do you know if there is any around here?" She asked, her voice hoarse. She looked around and spotted thyme a little ways away. You will survive, Frostfoot. You have done well. Lilybreeze's scent and voice started to fade, and Frostfoot sighed. Her mother had helped her up with words of encouragement. But right now the deputy needed to work on her health, not her mother.
She stood up and padded toward the thyme, limping badly. Plucking what she needed from the thyme plant, she chewed the leaves and let the juices sooth her pains. She sighed with relief and hopped back over to Stormstar. "I still need feverfew. It will help with the pains in my leg." She mewed, her voice stronger, recovering. She looked around with pricked ears. "Nevermind that. I can go without." She added after a moment. Sitting down heavily, Frostfoot put a little weight on her paw, snarling with the pain that came with it. She nosed her paw, feeling a broken bone. "Rat dung!" She cursed. "I broke my paw! No matter! I'll get it seen to soon. And a torn claw, which means I'll need comfrey." She sighed. "Our medicine cat doesn't have any, unfortunately." Frostfoot was speaking to herself quietly, not caring of Stormstar heard her.
Then she realized that the tom was still here, she bristled with sudden alarm. "Why are you here?" She asked cautiously. "I came to be with my mother. She died in a battle against ThunderClan, I come here every so often to share my thoughts with her. I don't know if she hears me or not, but it is nice to know she is watching over me. I lost her when I was only five moons old. My father was so grief stricken he forgot all about me. I basically grew up the rest of my life without parents, without siblings and friends. My only friend was Crimsonstar, and now we only talk to each other when we have to." The she-cat's voice trembled with sadness, but she held back the emotions welling inside her. She lost her mother, she lost her father, she lost her friends.
Frostfoot's fur lay flat, but now it bristled again as she refused to let Stormstar know she was weak with grief at everything that had gone wrong in her life. "Stormstar, may I ask you a question?" She asked softly, looking into his pale yellow eyes. "It is kind of personal, answer it if you want, but..." The deputy hesitated for a moment. "Have you ever lost someone so important to you, so precious, that you feel it was somehow your fault? I mean like, if you could go back and change who died, would you, if it meant they lived, and you died?" She asked. My mother died protecting the nursery. I would rather myself die than her. She meant so much to the clan, and she was so young. She was only 20 moons old, I was her first and only kit." Frostfoot couldn't believe what she was telling this tom, but it felt good to talk to someone. Everyone in Shadowclan already knew the story, yet none of them gave her sympathy, not even Crimsonstar, or even her own father. It burnt her heart like fire, threatening to destroy her spirit.

The WindClan leader merely stood there and watched with a slightly confused look on his face. She seemed preoccupied with something, probably her fall. She was still on the ground, not really coherent to what she was saying and that bothered him a bit. Something could be seriously wrong with her and he couldn’t really do anything about it. You were never certain how a ShadowClan cat would react to someone trying to help. They might think you’re trying to kill them or something farfetched like that. Finally, she slowly glanced in his direction and he noticed the pained expression on her face. He was torn between helping her, and just leaving.
Stormstar’s pale yellow eyes stayed fixed on her and he himself winced when she started to get to her paws and she hissed at the pain. He started to get an uncomfortable feeling in his stomach and he looked around skeptically. Just as he was looking back to her, she fell to the ground again and he made a motion to go to her, but stopped himself, he could do more harm than good to be honest. There was really nothing he could do, except sit there and do nothing. Just watch the ShadowClan deputy struggle with the pain, and the problems that were arising from it. Keeping his gaze steady on her, he couldn’t help but smile when she got into a sitting position.
He studied her body, her beautiful orange and white coat and how it accentuated the frame of her body. She was a gorgeous she-cat, there was no doubt about that, and her eyes just made her that much more desirable. Stormstar’s thoughts were cut off when she spoke, saying something about thyme. Furrowing his brow, he watched her curiously as she got up and walked to a patch of herb. He was glad she knew what it was because he was absolutely clueless about herbs and the whole medicine aspect of Clan life, it just never interested him.
From his position, he could hear the slight pitch changes in her voice when she spoke, but couldn’t hear what she said. However when she acknowledged his presence, he tensed up and his lip curled slightly. He tried to show that he didn’t care about her past at all, however he was afraid that he didn’t do a good job.
“My business here is none of yours. This is a sacred ground and anyone is allowed here from the Clans.” He spoke slowly, tilting his head to the side ever so slightly, his eyes narrowing on her ice blue ones. Stormstar could hear the shakiness of her voice but he pushed it to the side and didn’t give it much thought. ShadowClan was good at manipulating other cats and he was still on the defensive and not sure what she was really meaning to do. It crossed his mind briefly that she might actually be sincere when she said it, but he wasn’t too sure.
“I needed to get away. I was getting overwhelmed with everything. I’m only 25 moons old and have to look after the Clan ... it’s a bit much at times.” He confessed quietly shooting his gaze down to the ground to his shuffling paws. He knew it was wrong to be here with the she-cat … he should’ve left as soon as he seen that she was here. He was communicating with an enemy cat; an enemy deputy! Even if the Clans were at a good point right now, this could prove to be a bad thing. Anyone could be watching them and start something between the two Clans.
Hearing her say his name, he brought his yellow orbs to her blue ones and nodded in response to her question. He became even more intrigued when she said that it would be personal. His ears swiveled towards her, and his yellow eyes were soft to encourage her. All defenses fell from the tom cat, though he was unaware of it. But as soon as she asked the question, his jaw clenched and his breathing became very deep when he thought of his mother. He knew that his birth along with his siblings had hindered her ability to be the warrior she could be, and knew deep down that it would end her life in the end, he had never really thought it to be his fault. Taking a breath, he smiled sadly and nodded.
“I lost my mother, the night of my Warrior ceremony. Her heart gave out on her.” Stormstar spoke softly, grief ripping at his stomach and heart. It had been a long time since he had spoken about his mother. “My mom was everything to me … she was proud to call me her son, to be her kin … she wasn’t like my siblings, she cared for me none stop…” He paused, feeling a lump rise in her throat. Composing himself, he looked away from her eyes before continuing. “She was born with a weak heart, physically. The birth of me and my siblings almost killed her, but she pushed through. I think sometimes that if we hadn’t been born, she would still around today.. I miss her so much, she was everything to me.”
Looking into her eyes again, Stormstar’s own had teared up and a layer of liquid ran along the bottom of his eyes. He couldn’t imagine having lost his mom when he was only 5 moons, he was still dependent on his mom at five moons.
“I’m so sorry for your loss Frostfoot ... and also for your paw.” The dark gray tom smiled sympathetically at the pretty she-cat. “How,” He stopped himself, trying to figure out how to word what he wanted to say. “How often, do you come here to talk to her…?” He asked gently hoping that he hadn’t pushed it too much, emotionally cats could be unpredictable, but at this moment, Stormstar felt an intense rush of respect for the ShadowClan territory.

FrostfootEvery time we touch I get this feeling, Every time we kiss I swear I can fly, Can't you feel my heart beat fast I want this to lastHe spoke of all clans being allowed here, and Frostfoot pricked her ears forward, a mischievous glint in her frosty eyes. "However, since it isn't a full moon you are not protected by the truce." She growled and started to stalk toward him in a crouch, fire in her ice blue eyes. She stood tall when she was nose to nose with him, her frosty eyes glimmering with amusement. "Even so, StarClan would be angry with me if I killed a cat here, muchless a leader. And besides, I'm not ready to kill you... yet." She mewed softly, licking her claws. She glanced at him, playfulness sparkling in her eyes like stars.
She looked at him and batted his ears teasingly and scooted up ShadowClan's oak. "Catch me if you can, rabbit-face!" She called down to him. Being with Stormstar felt right, it made her feel something that she hadn't felt in a long time. It made her feel... wanted. Just then, he spoke of his own mother and the playful gleam in her eyes dimmed to sorrow. "Stormstar... I-I... I don't know what to say. I'm really sorry that your mother died. You don't deserve that, especially during a ceremony as important as becoming a warrior." Her eyes betrayed the shock she felt, and the sympathy she wanted to give him. Jumping from the tree and padded slowly, uncertainly, to Stormstar, she brushed her muzzle against his cheek, offering comfort.
She brushed against his side, flanks, and then his other side, brushing fur against fur to offer him comfort, to let him know that she knew how it felt to lose someone you loved so much. She sighed and sat next to him, wrapping her ginger and white tail over his sturdy shoulders. "Stormstar, I come here to talk to my mother every night till dawn. It makes me feel closer to her than I ever had since she died. StarClan took her away from me, and I wasn't ready to let go." Frostfoot mewed, leaning against him hoping he didn't care. Frostfoot needed a friend more than ever. "I go home every morning and I get stared at like I'm a twoleg. I just glance at them and they look at their paws as if... I don't know, but it makes me feel unwanted within my own clan. How can this be StarClan's destiny for me?" Frostfoot's voice croaked with grief as she looked at the stars of StarClan.
She glanced at Stormstar and stood up, walking a few paces away. She shouldn't feel that comfortable with him, especially since he was from another clan, especially since he was a leader from another clan. She sat down heavily with a sigh, looking at him with frosty blue eyes. She wanted to lighten up the mood somehow, to make him feel better and not so alone. Padding over to Stormstar, she brushed against both his sides, and then tapped his chest with a paw. "Your it!" Again, Frostfoot shot up the ShadowClan tree like a squirrel. She stopped on the first branch, it was two fox lengths off the ground, and the she-cat flicked her tail. She wanted Stormstar to chase her, to have fun and forget about his mother if only for a few moments. Notes: A little better Muse: Acceptable Lyrics: Heaven - DJ Sammy

Keeping his focus on the she-cat was surprisingly simple. Usually the grey tom would turn his attention to something else, something that caught his eye, but, nothing did. This she-cat had his full attention and was keeping him definitely interesting. He rolled his pale yellow eyes at her comment about StarClan, not at all worried that something would happen. After all, she had a badly hurt paw and he was an experienced warrior with a leader title under his belt. Stormstar knew he could take her easily, even if she wasn’t injured. He smile at her sympathy and nodded his head sadly, though he was too overwhelmed at the moment to speak. He watched her eyes go from sparkling, to clouded with sorrow and he felt an ache in his heart for her that he hadn’t experienced since his mother had passed.
Stormstar’s whole body tensed when he noticed what she was doing and he winced away when her muzzle touched his cheek. This was getting too touchy ... Too intimate. This was wrong. They were from separate Clans, he shouldn’t be here. He rose to his feet and took a step back from her when she brushed her pelt against him and attempted to place her tail on his shoulders. He was fighting the feeling that was rising in his chest, the comfort he felt next to her. The comfort he hadn’t felt since his mother passed, the feeling only a she-cat could offer. He couldn’t feel it for an enemy cat. It was forbidden under the law of StarClan. Stormstar gazed upon Frostfoot with desire, and wanting, but did nothing to move closer to her. A fox length was between them now and he stood and looked at her, stiff as board, not sure what to do.
The gray tom listened to her speak of her mother and on an impulse, he strode back over to her and nuzzled her as he felt her body lean into him and he was overwhelmed with her sweet scent. Her words about her Clan made him furrow his brow and shake his head at the thought of her own Clan thinking of her as a disgrace, the way she said it painted that picture for him. She was their deputy! They should look at her with respect! He felt a rush of anger pulse through his body at the thought of ShadowClan being so cruel to the she-cat. From his perspective, she was a marvelous warrior, and deputy.
“StarClan gives the biggest challenges to those who are strong to make them stronger. The fact that you are still the deputy, and apart of the Clan show me, as well as StarClan that you are a worthy deputy. And are willing to fight to keep your place within your Clan.” Stormstar spoke softly, and quietly, into her ear, giving her cheek a lick, showing for the first time, true compassion towards her. He wanted to comfort her, show her that she had something to fight for, and even if this was StarClan’s destiny for her, then they had given it to her for a reason. Caught slightly by surprise as she looked up at him with those beautiful blue eyes, he couldn’t react to her until she was already away from him.
Gazing after her, he felt a guilty feeling in his stomach. He couldn’t deny the feeling he was starting to develop for the she-cat. It wasn’t natural how fast they formed or for the she-cat herself. She was ShadowClan! He was WindClan! Nothing would make the couple work. Couple? He questioned himself. No that was a dirty word. Stormstar looked away from her and shook his head. This wasn’t right in the slightest. Then he felt her pelt brush against him, on both sides and he stood there stunned for a second as her paw lightly touched his cheek and he looked at her with a confused expression on his angular face. Keeping his eyes on her, he watched her shoot up the tree, her paw obviously feeling better which made him smile to himself.
When she stopped on the one branch and flicked her tail, he stopped himself and thought about it for a second. Did she want him to chase her? Like, a game played by kits? It was so juvenile!
“Better run Frostfoot!” He purred loudly as he sprinted towards the tree and shimmied his way up to the branch.

FrostfootEvery time we touch I get this feeling, Every time we kiss I swear I can fly, Can't you feel my heart beat fast I want this to lastFrostfoot chirped like a kit when Stormstar climbed up after her. She clawed her way to the second branch, then the third, until she was at the top of the tree. Her chest heaved as she caught her breath. She looked at the branch below her and saw her claw marks. This was the same branch she had fallen from. As if summoned, her paw started to ache. She wasn't surprised, she had just climbed one of the largest oaks in clan territory, and very quickly. She shifted her weight to her other side, letting her aching paw rest for a moment. She stared at the sky and felt her branch jolt. She dug all her claws in and waited for a breeze but felt none. She looked behind her with frosty blue eyes and saw Stormstar. She sat up again, her claws still embedded in the branch, and spoke. "It's amazing, isn't it? You can see all of StarClan from here."
Frostfoot was in awe. "The ShadowClan camp isn't crowded by trees like ThunderClan. I wouldn't like that. In my camp, I sleep out in the clearing every night. I fall asleep looking at the stars, knowing that StarClan is looking right back at me. I like to know that they can see me. I like to know that they are watching over me as I rest, as I sleep. It makes me feel safe, and loved." Her voice soft with grief as she searched the stars, wondering which one was her mother. Then, the stars seemed to move, sweeping across the sky as if blown by the wind. Frostfoot's ears pricked, watching them with confusion and wondered if Stormstar could see it to. The stars stopped moving at last and Frostfoot had to stop her fur from bristling as she saw her mother's face, her neck, and half her chest. Her eyes were soft blue, like Frostfoot's, and had stars twinkling in them. But something was wrong. Frostfoot gazed at her mother, her shape formed by the stars.
Her mother looked sad, a look of disapproval in her starry eyes. The stars shifted to let Frostfoot's mother shake her head with sorrow. Frostfoot knew she was referring to Stormstar. The ginger and white she-cat knew she shouldn't be here with the WindClan leader. Frostfoot blinked and her mother was gone, the stars looked as though they hadn't moved at all. The she-cat sighed and closed her icy blue eyes. "I shouldn't be here, Stormstar. But something is tell me to stay." She muttered, looking at the tom with distress in her gaze. Frostfoot looked at the horizon. It was turning milky pink as the first light of dawn brightened the air and turned everything to gray with its gathering light. She stood up and turned around carefully. "We should return to our own clans, but..." She paused to gather her thoughts. "Please Stormstar! Meet here again tomorrow night! I'll be waiting." Without giving him a chance to reply, Frostfoot leaped down the branches of the oak until she could safely jump out of the tree and bolted for ShadowClan's territory.
She ran through the scent marks that told other clans that this was ShadowClan's territory. The deputy bolted for the camp and stopped to catch her breath before padding calmly into the camp. She ignored the stares of curiosity from her clanmates and settled down to give every cat their duties for the day. With that finished, she led a border patrol along the thunderpath, telling them to renew the scent marks, and gazed toward Fourtrees. She could see the top of the oak where she had stood and had seen her mother's face in the stars. She sighed and carried on with the patrol, returning to the camp and heading out again with a hunting patrol. She had to keep her mind off Stormstar. It was wrong to be thinking affectionately of a cat from another clan, much less of a leader from another clan! Suddenly, the sound of tiny paws broke into Frostfoot's thoughts. She crouched low, spotting a eagle swooping down for a squirrel on the edge of the thunderpath. As it hit the ground, its cruel talons wrapping themselves around the squirrel, Frostfoot leaped onto the large bird.
It shrieked with panic, its giant wings beating furiously against the thunderpath. It started to lift into the air as Frostfoot finally got a firm hold, blood swelling around her claws where they dug into the skin under the feathers. She closed her eyes as she struggled to bite into the neck of the large bird. Suddenly, she was falling. She dug her claws deeper into the bird as it hit the ground, her landing softened by its plump body. She heard hisses and commanding yowls all around her and opened her frosty blue eyes to see her two clanmates holding down the bird's wings as they yowled for her to kill the eagle quickly. Its wings were flapping madly beneath the two toms of the hunting patrol, the apprentice that had come along was trembling with fear a little ways off. Frostfoot leaped onto the bird's shoulders, where the wings connected with the rest of the body. "Kill it now! We can't keep it down much longer!" One yowl came. "Hurry!" Another yowl sounded from her other side, sounding a little scared. The bird twisted in panic below Frostfoot as it tried to escape.
She made her way clumsily to the neck of the beast and snapped her jaws on the neck bones. Everything around her fell into dead silence. The bird had stopped screaming with terror, her clanmates stopped howling at her to kill the bird, and the eagle itself was as still as a rock. The eagle was dead. She stood on the bird, her paws at the base of its wings, and looked at her shaken clanmates. "Thank you. It would've carried me away no problem if you hadn't helped." She panted. Frostfoot herself was shaken by the ordeal of almost being carried off by a large bird like this. Her clanmates looked at her and nodded, their eyes showing their own fear. "We couldn't let that happen." The tom on her left mewed. "Yeah, I wouldn't want to be the cat to tell Crimsonstar that his deputy was carried away by an eagle!" The one of her right flicked his tail. "Well, this should feed the clan for half a moon. Lets get it back to camp." Frostfoot mewed and picked the bird up by one of the wings. The toms took the other wing and the apprentice helped Frostfoot with her wind.
Progress to the camp was slow with the eagle weighing them down, but the camp finally came into sight. The cat guarding the camp gasped at the large bird, but stayed silent as Frostfoot and her patrol struggled to get it through the entrance. The camp gasped as the eagle was hauled to the fresh-kill pile. Frostfoot dropped the wing, her neck aching as well as her legs. She shook her pelt. "Because of this marvelous catch, my patrol may have the first pick of prey from the fresh-kill pile!" She mewed. The toms grabbed the eagle once more and dragged it away to a corner of the camp to eat in peace. Frostfoot grabbed a frog for herself when one of the toms from her patrol brushed his pelt against hers. "We wouldn't have this eagle if it weren't for you trying to get it on your own!" His eyes gleamed with amusement. "Come, Frostfoot. Share the eagle with us." He offered. The ginger and white she-cat blinked her eyes with surprise and dropped her frog, trotting over to the eagle and sharing it with the toms.
They looked at her expectantly. "What?" She mewed, confused by their blinking eyes. They prodded the eagle with their paws. She knew then that they wanted her to have the first bite. She plucked the feathers off the bird with her teeth, helped by her patrol, and sank her teeth into the flesh of the eagle. It tasted odd on her tongue, the blood was salty. She swallowed and the toms joined in. She flicked her tail to the toms after awhile and they dragged the eagle into the center of the camp. "Let all of the clan enjoy this meal, let it fill our bellies and give us strength!" She yowled to the cats as they gathered around the eagle and took their share. Frostfoot padded into her nest and curled into a ball, falling into sleep.
She blinked her eyes open, shaking her head to chase away the drowsiness of slumber. She padded outside on stiff limbs and stretched her legs, shaking her pelt to rid of the moss that clung to it. She gave herself a quick groom and looked around. The sun had disappeared over the horizon, but its golden light still painted the sky with reds, oranges, and golden rays. She yawned widely and padded out of camp. "Where are you going, Frostfoot?" A curious mew sounded behind her. "Night hunting." She mewed simply without looking to see who it was and headed away from camp. Out of sight, the she-cat raced for Fourtrees, eager to see if Stormstar would meet her again. She slowed her pace as the thunderpath came into view. She knew she shouldn't feel so excited to meet a cat from another clan, but the thought of Stormstar made her heart skip a beat. She raced across the thunderpath as it started to tremble, announcing the approach of a monster. She snorted and flicked her tail, padding calmly to Fourtrees even though her heart raced. A large smile on his face, Stormstar laughed happily as he chased the she-cat up the tree. He quietly admired her grace as she scaled the tree, even with her sore paw. She moved a lot better than most ShadowClan cats, and he was pleased to see how nimble she was on her paws. Stormstar himself was quick on his paws, but climbing the tree was proving to be a challenge. Living on the open prairies, he had never had any reason to climb a tree for any reason, except to get to his leader perch on the great oak but that was a simple process.
Watching his paws, the gray tom cat moved slowly up the tree making sure he was putting his feet in the right spot so that he didn’t take a tumble to the ground. Miss stepping slightly, Stormstar gasped and sunk his claws into the tree branch so hard he felt one of his claws tear. Biting back the pain he made his way up the tree to where she was perched and he looked upon her with fascination and a feeling that he was trying to deny. The moon’s light reflected off her coat in an impossibly beautiful way.
Stormstar nodded to her reply and brushed her flank with his cheek, not wanting to get up to the same height as she was. He felt very shaky and insecure up this high in the tree top. His yellow eyes found their way from her moonlit pelt to the pelt in the sky. StarClan reflecting off his eyes, he smiled to himself, thinking about his mom. It had been 13 moons since he lost the cat he loved above all. His smile turned to a look of sadness that overwhelmed his body for a moment and took him into the stars.
Warmth washed over his body, certainly out of place on a chilly night like this. A cheek brushed his, and he knew it not to be Frostfoot. His heart beat painfully for a second before he felt a lick on his forehead and voice in his ear “I’ve never left your side, my son. Go on now, back to Frostfoot. Write your destiny.” With that, the warmth he felt that engulfed his body left with a cold shiver. Stormstar found himself back on the tree, his eyes set on the moon and it wasn’t until he noticed that Frostfoot had been talking did he fully become coherent to the world around him
“I have never thought of what it would be like to sleep among trees. It is not appealing to me. I like to feel the night breeze ruffling my pelt in the night, the stars help too.” He said calmly, not really into the conversation anymore. He felt unnerved with what his mother had said to him. What did she mean? Was he going to do something that wad frowned upon? Surely he knew better than that. However he didn’t have much time to dwell on what she had said for Frostfoot spoke again.
The words made his stomach drop and his heart stop with a painful beat. Did she just say she shouldn’t be here? His expression went stony and his eyes stayed fixed on her trying to put together the pieces that she said totally missing the last part of her words. The only thing he heard was that she shouldn’t be here. He had had the same thoughts too, but he wasn’t going to voice them to her. He watched her gaze shift to the sky and the pale light coming in over the horizon dismissing Silver Pelt for the day ahead. Stormstar didn’t know what to say; he just stood there awkwardly on the branch.
“Uhh.” He managed the brilliant word as she jumped down from the branches with a grace of a she-cat. He watched her with a furrowed brow and a hurt feeling in his chest. Stormstar watched her until he could no longer see her and the light was getting dangerously bright. With a heavy sigh, he brought himself down from the tree, with caution. After a few long moments, he was on the ground and the feeling of fatigue gripped his mind and body. Shaking his head to try and clear it, he left Fourtrees and walked across his territory towards the camp, stopping every few strides to roll in the grass and try to get the scent of ShadowClan off of his pelt. The last thing he needed was to be questioned about the scent on him and why he had been out so late.
It wasn’t the first time he had left and come home early in the morning, but this time he felt the guilt building in his stomach. He needed to bring something home to make it look less suspicious. Taking a deep breath in to clear his head he opened his jaws wide to the early morning air and breathed in the air, which soon turned into a yawn. Blinking back the heaviness that was settling into his eye lids he moved towards the scent of a rabbit, who he soon locked his gaze on. The tom cat took off after it, feeling how sluggish his moments were after a night of no sleep. With a stroke of luck however, he managed to hook it in the hip and pull it into his jaws for a swift kill.
Paws dragging with the weight of the rabbit, he made his way through the entrance of the camp with a welcome mew from the morning patrol. He replied with a grunt before dropping the kill onto the fresh-kill pile. Glancing around his camp to make sure everything was in order, he walked to the medicine cats den and grumbled about having a head ache. Given the herbs he slunk to his den dismissing the questioning look that he received from the medicine cat. Stormstar was too tired to care if anyone smelt ShadowClan. He would diffuse any tension that arose from it if need be. Plunking down into his nest, he was too consumed with fatigue to think about the night that had passed. Within moments, the WindClan leader was fast asleep.
The glare of the afternoon sun bore onto his pelt warming him, waking him up also from a deep sleep. Groggy and hungry Stormstar stretched out each limb, feeling the stiffness in his shoulders from clenching onto the tree the previous night. A quick glance to the sun told him that it was nowhere near night again and he sighed. At least it gives me time to think, he thought to himself as he walked to the fresh-kill pile and picked up a large piece of prey. He quickly ate half of it before becoming full. With a groan he called out to a lone warrior who looked rather bored to finish it up. Smiling at him, Stormstar looked out the entrance to the camp longingly. He needed to do something. Something to take his mind off the night before.
The thought of what had happened, the things he felt and how close he had gotten to the she-cat made him sick to his stomach. He was breaking the Warrior Code by meeting the ShadowClan deputy. If anything happened between them, it would never work unless she came over to WindClan …
“Stormstar? Are you okay?” A voice asked him. Looking to the medicine cat, he smiled and said “Just a sore stomach.” Conscious enough of himself, he wondered whether he still smelled of Frostfoot. Mumbling something about going to lay down, he hurried off awkwardly and once again settled into his nest. Paws in tight to his chest, he wrapped his tail around his body and closed his eyes though sleep did nit greet him as willingly as it had that morning. What had he done last night, going to see the deputy? If he was caught he could lose his position as Clan leader. She’s worth it. A voice in the back of his head chimed in.
The battle raged on within his head and he slipped in and out of sleep for awhile before he couldn’t lay anymore. To his pleasure he seen the sun had sunken low and the moon was shining bright. He jumped to his feet nad hoped it hadn’t gotten too late. Stormstar dashed out of the camp, this time lucky enough to not see any of his fellow Clanmates. The WindClan leader ran across the moor towards Fourtrees, his excitement growing as the trees grew larger with every step. Soon he was at the sacred grounds and he slowed his pace. Out of breath and muscles burning slightly he walked calmly into Fourtrees searching for the orange and white she-cat. Finally his eyes rested on her frame and a huge grin spread out on his face and his heart fluttered.
“Good evening Frostfoot!” He called out happily, a purr sounding loudly from his small chest.

FrostfootEvery time we touch I get this feeling, Every time we kiss I swear I can fly, Can't you feel my heart beat fast I want this to lastFrostfoot was hiding in the bushes, out of sight, by the time Stormstar arrived. She narrowed her eyes to avoid the sparkle of the moon so she wouldn't be seen. Silent as a snake in the grass, the ginger and white she-cat crept up beside Stormstar, only a fox length from where he stood. She exploded from the bushes at a sprint and leaped, grasping his shoulders with her forepaws, claws in, and pulled him to the ground, tumbling like a dead weight. They stopped rolling with Frostfoot leaning over Stormstar panting. Her blue eyes gleamed with mischief as she licked his cheek. "So you came after all, rabbit-breath?" She asked teasingly and got off the tom so he could stand up. She sat down with her orange and white tail wrapped neatly over her snowy forepaws. "Stormstar, why did you come tonight knowing we could get caught? You know how dangerous it is for us to be meeting like this. Why did you come?" She asked, worry in her voice, but also curiosity.
"I come here every night, ShadowClan knows I disappear at the end of the day and return just before the sun rises. They know where I go. But does WindClan know where you go? What if a kit, or an apprentice, decides to find out and sees us? Am I worth the trouble that will come from it?" She asked. Frostfoot knew that this was only their second meeting, but she wanted to know if he cared about her at all yet. Stormstar already meant a lot to the ShadowClan deputy because he was nice to her, and he treated her with respect. ShadowClan probably wouldn't care less if she had died. Frostfoot blinked her frosty blue eyes, waiting for an answer. Did he even care the slightest bit about her? What if Stormstar only came tonight to break their meetings, to tell her that this was his last meeting with her? Frostfoot's heart raced, praying to StarClan that Stormstar didn't come here just to say goodbye to her forever and leave.
Frostfoot padded up to the gray tom, a whisker from his nose, and rubbed her face against his cheek. She breathed in his sweet scent, hoping he would say that he cared about her. She glanced at the stars, but they only twinkled back. It seemed, however, that one star shone brighter than all the others. Is that you, mother? Frostfoot thought. She could hear her mother's voice in her head. "Go home, Frostfoot. He will only break your heart. You've suffered enough, and he isn't worth the trouble." Frostfoot closed her eyes so tight it hurt, as she pressed herself against Stormstar's shoulder. She wanted him to tell her that she was worth the trouble, that she was worth it, that he cared about her. Your wrong, mother! He is worth the trouble, he will always be worth the trouble! I don't care what you think, I love him! She wanted the say the words aloud, to scream them at StarClan, but she couldn't bring herself to do it, not until she knew how Stormstar felt.
Frostfoot opened her eyes and looked at the ground, studying her paws. She looked at Stormstar, her eyes seeking comfort and protection. She looked at the bright star that belonged to her mother, its light seemed to have vanished. Was it a sign? A warning of darkness to come? She shook her head as if getting rid of a flea. She dragged her nervous gaze back to Stormstar and blinked her beautiful eyes at him. She was at a loss of words, and the silence seemed to stretch. With a heavy sigh, Frostfoot turned her head away with her eyes closed. "I knew it." She whispered. She stood up and padded a few fox lengths away, sitting down with her tail in the grass and her head drooped. "Go home, Stormstar. I thought that you cared about me, that you understand how I feel. I guess I was wrong." Her voice was soft with defeat. She looked in the grass as it started to light up a little, her mother's face swirling in the moonlight as the she-cat seemed to have a triumphant gleam in her starry eyes. Frostfoot blinked her eyes sadly, but the image of her mother had vanished. Notes: Eh. Muse: Blech. Lyrics: Heaven - DJ Sammy

Confused, he stood there like a fool. He thought he had seen the pretty orange and white she-cat but all of sudden she wasn’t there anymore. With a disheartened sigh, he sat down and a horrible feeling hit his stomach. Was she not going to come? Was she standing him up? Stormstar’s face fell and he sat down with his head down, feeling hurt. It was to be expected… no she-cat stuck around with him for long, he wasn’t really tom cats wanted to be around. He had no luck with the ladies but something in him told him that he could have something with the ShadowClan deputy. His mind told him that he shouldn’t feel something for the she-cat but his heart told him different. If it was possible, he had fallen in love with the beautiful orange and white she-cat. Every time he closed his pale yellow eyes, he seen her mesmerizing blue ones and his he became flustered. Stormstar had never felt this way about anyone before in his life, and he was slightly dismayed that it was with a cat from a different Clan, but one can’t turn away from the feeling in their heart. It was not possible if the feelings were there.
“WHOA!” Stormstar gasped as he felt something grab him. Then he found himself falling onto the ground with the weight on his shoulders. He felt himself go on the defensive until the familiar scent touch his nostrils. His heart fluttered and he let himself fall hitting the ground kind of hard but not letting it faze him. The feel of her tongue on the side of his face made a purr erupt from his chest and he smiled up at her as she stood over him. He furrowed his brow and pretended to look hurt as she called him rabbit-breath. “Of course I came urm, lizard-breath!” Stormstar replied foolishly, trying to insult her also, but knowing that he failed at doing so. Raising to his feet, he sat up beside her and was knocked for a turn when the next words out of her mouth were questioning. He noted the worry in her words, and his heart started to beat fast. Was she going to tell him that this was a mistake for her to come? Before he could reply and shut down the doubt in her mind, she starting speaking again. He had never really thought of what he would tell them. He was their leader, but would they question him? If they did, he didn’t know what he was going to say…
“I came tonight because you asked me to.” He replied quickly before she could talk again. “I know we could get caught, but, I wanted to come also. If that is so hard to believe.” He paused looking at her with sincerity. He needed her to believe him, he wanted her to believe him. “They don’t know, they don’t notice when I leave. I came home this morning with a rabbit, and I told them I couldn’t sleep, I had a nightmare and went out to clear my head. They believed me because they trust in me. I’m their leader and have been for a couple moons now, why would they doubt my word? I’ve been nothing but loyal to... My … Clan…” His voice trailed off as he realized what he was saying. He was rambling on without fully knowing what he was going to say. “What if you worth the trouble Frostfoot? Would it make a difference?” Stormstar prodded with a bit of hurt in his voice. “If you weren’t worth the trouble that could result from being caught, then I wouldn’t have come tonight love…” He said with a sigh, finishing what he was saying. He didn’t know what else to say to make her believe him.
Stormstar watched her body as she came up to his face, her beautiful face close to his and he breathed in deeply. Her own scent over powered that of the ShadowClan, and he pushed against her affectionately when her cheek brushed against his. Her head turned to the stars and he wondered if she was having a conversation with her mother. Briefly looking at the stars, he let his eyes wander back to her and he studied her face. The way her eyes looked to the sky intelligently, the beautiful angle of her nose descending from forehead, and the soft curve of her muzzle. She was the face of beautiful, the definition. He noticed her eyes had closed and he pressed his body into hers and licked her shoulder hoping she would feel the love that he felt pulsing through his body, the love that filled his heart for the ShadowClan deputy. He felt his heart beat in time with hers and he looked to her just as she was turning her gaze to him from her paws. He smiled sweetly to her, his ears turned towards her. When she looked away from him to the stars and then back to him, she noticed the nervousness that was written in her eyes. Something was wrong and he didn’t like the thought of that. Caught off guard by her sigh, he looked at her with shock.
“Knew what, Frostfoot?” He asked her, his mouth dry and panic settling into his body, making him feel very cold. "Go home, Stormstar. I thought that you cared about me, that you understand how I feel. I guess I was wrong." His eyes widened and his heart stopped. Hadn’t she heard what he had said to her. She walked away from him and sat down in the grass and he started shaking his head. “No, Frostfoot. I’m not going home.” The words came out harsh and rushed, and he silently cursed himself for saying them like that. “I do care about you! If I didn’t I wouldn’t of bothered coming out here tonight to be with you! You’re not wrong. At all. Frostfoot I…”He stopped himself, not sure how to tell her the way he felt. Did he truly love her? Yes, I do! He thought with certainty and he walked to her and flicked her chin with his tail so that she would look up to him and look into his eyes. “Look me in the eye with those beautiful blue eyes, the ones that captured my heart, captured my attention, made everything right. Look at me with those eyes, the eyes I fell in love with.” He frantically searched her face, all defenses down, praying for her to believe him this time. “I love you, Frostfoot.”

FrostfootEvery time we touch I get this feeling, Every time we kiss I swear I can fly, Can't you feel my heart beat fast I want this to lastFrostfoot felt Stormstar's warm fur brush her body. She looked at him with frosty blue eyes and purred softly. "Are you really sure I'm worth the trouble? If we get caught Stormstar, it could mean war between our clans! I would never be able to see you, I'd probably have to..." She stopped with a gasp of pain. Pictures of WindClan thundering through ShadowClan's camp filled Frostfoot's thoughts. Screeches cats, blood flying like rain in a storm, tails, claws, and teeth soaring across the camp at enemy cats, wails of terrified queens and kits, the yowls of elders trying to fight for their clan, but not having the strength to do so. Frostfoot shivered. "Stormstar, I'd have to fight you. Not even StarClan could make me but... I'd have to, and it would break my heart to do so." She muttered. "Please, don't make me fight you." She whispered, her voice croaking with grief. "I've lost enough, don't make me lose more." She huffed, her voice full of pain. She pressed against the gray tom, wanting to shrink in size so she could hide in his fur, to live in his warmth forever. She knew it was impossible, but her relationship... her love... was possible. Nobody could make her feel the way Stormstar did. She looked at him with affection in her gaze. Then he said something that sent her heart soaring to StarClan and back again.
"I-I... I love you too, Stormstar!" She mewed happily and brushed her muzzle against his cheek, her heart pounding so loud in her chest she thought StarClan could feel its vibrating beats as it beat rhythmically with Stormstar's heart. She knew she shouldn't feel this way, but she did. Her love for Stormstar was like a fire, burning brightly and raging way out of control. An outraged hiss made Frostfoot pause for a moment. Her mother wasn't happy, not one bit. "You fool! You cannot love him! That rabbit-heart is from another clan! Your not allowed to love him!" Frostfoot's mother, Lilybreeze, snarled. She felt the fur on her shoulder shudder. Her mother must've tried to strike her. I won't let you ruin this for me. Frostfoot thought angrily. She reared on her hind legs, sitting on them, and wrapped her paws around Stormstar's neck, hugging in a feline kind of way. She purred louder than a cat probably should have been able too. She broke away from Stormstar and bounced in circles, excited now. She paused for a moment and looked at Stormstar, her eyes glittering like the pelts of StarClan's warriors, her legs were spread out and her ears were up. Suddenly, a twig snapped behind the Great Rock. Frostfoot's head whipped around, her fur bushed up, as she sank into a crouch. She slithered like a snake, silent like death, and stalked through the shadows. She flicked her tail for Stormstar to keep low. The ginger and white she-cat whipped around the rock like lightning splitting the sky.
A pain-filled shriek echoed around the clearing as Frostfoot disappeared. It was a few heartbeats later that the deputy reappeared with a plump rabbit in her jaws. She stumbled every few steps as she tripped on the rabbit. Her neck ached by the time she reached Stormstar and dropped the rabbit at his paws. She sat down, pride in her frosty blue eyes. "Guess what else I caught today!?" She waited for a couple heartbeats. "An eagle, Stormstar! I caught an eagle! I was hunting a mouse, and it was on the thunderpath. It was risky, let me tell you! I was ready to pounce and then... BOOM! There is was, Stormstar! Right in front of me! It was the hugest bird I've ever seen in my entire life! I leaped onto it, my claws dug into its skin under all the feathers! It screamed with panic and started to take flight! I was convinced I would join StarClan for sure! But then the wind blasted through my fur and I was on the eagle, and the eagle was on the ground. Its wings seemed to stretch from one side of the thunderpath to the other, oh it was amazing! It was wriggling under me and it was hard to keep my balance. I saw that my patrol had pinned the eagle's wings down so it couldn't fly away, taking me with it! Oh, Stormstar! I was so frightened. But I knew what I had to do. This eagle would feed my clan for days! I had to kill it. It was hard to balance on the bird as it squawked with panic and wriggled about. But finally I got to its neck and I killed it, Stormstar! I, Frostfoot, killed an eagle!" She told her story, her eyes gleaming with pride.
The ginger and white she-cat's fur bushed up as she remembered the panic she felt as the eagle lifted into the sky with her on its back. She remembered the jolt of pain that trembled through her legs as it was slammed to the ground. She could still hear her patrol's words ringing in her ears as they ordered her to kill it because they wouldn't be able to hold down the massive eagle for much longer. She drew in a deep breath and closed her eyes, remembering the thrill as she closed her jaws around the eagle's neck bones and slammed her teeth shut. The bird had gone from a screaming pile of feathers to dead silence in less than a blink of an eye. She opened her eyes and purred softly, her fur laying flat as she pulled herself back into the presence, sitting under the stars with Stormstar in front of her and a meal between them. She crouched with her forepaws curled into her chest. She took the first bite, chewing and swallowing the meat. "Blech!" Frostfoot licked her lips repeatedly. "How can you eat rabbit? It has a bitter taste. Unlike rats. Now that tastes good. I'll bring one tomorrow night so you can try what ShadowClan eats. Hmm... I'll bring a few things actually. A rat, a frog, maybe a toad." Frostfoot's voice trailed away as she thought about what she could bring for her new mate to try. Her shoulders rolled with a shrug. "I'll figure something out." She mewed and took another bite of the rabbit. She ate her share of the rabbit. "I guess after awhile it doesn't taste so bad." She purred with amusement, her whiskers twitching.
The she-cat stood tall and flicked her tail. She padded silently into the shadows, not returning for several minutes. She finally reappeared with brambles in her jaws. She padded over to WindClan's oak and quickly wove the brambles together, removing all thorns, as she made a nest. She raced out of Fourtrees again. Again, she didn't reappear for awhile. When she did, the ginger and white she-cat was carrying moss and feathers in her mouth and lined the nest with moss, and then the feathers. She flicked her tail with exasperation. "What else? What else? What else? Hmmm..." She thought about what she needed to make the nest more comfortable. "Oh!" One last time, Frostfoot fled the clearing and into the forest beyond into ThunderClan territory. She sniffed along the border, scenting her next target for a perfect nest. There! Frostfoot spotted the soft leaves of clump of feverfew. She scented the air three times and looked around carefully before creeping over the border and snatching the entire plant. She bolted back across the border. Safe in the shadows, Frostfoot delicately plucked leaves from the plant and ran her paw over them gently. She loved the soft feeling of the leaves on her pads and left the plant on the ground, all the leaves from the feverfew stripped and tucked against her broad chest and in her jaws. She placed each paw carefully as she made her way back to the great oak where she had the nest and put the leaves of the feverfew in it.
She looked at Stormstar and flicked her tail for him to join her as she climbed into the large nest. It was just big enough to two cats to sleep in comfortably. She circled in one half of the nest and curled into a ball, looking at Stormstar. "Join me." She mewed softly, waving her tail to summon him. She waited for him to join her as she felt the hot breath of Lilybreeze. What do you want now? Frostfoot thought crossly. "I can see you've made up your mind and decided to disgrace ShadowClan forever. Just be ready for the consequences." Lilybreeze's scent and voice faded. The way she had said that last part, about being ready for the consequences, sent a shudder through Frostfoot. What consequences? She wasn't doing anything to harm ShadowClan! Nobody knew she was doing this. So why did it matter? And it wasn't as if she was going to have Stormstar's kits. That would be dangerous for them and their clans. She shook her head as if shaking water from it and stared at Stormstar with loving eyes. "Come, love. Let us sleep under the stars." She mewed softly.
