Name: Viperstrike Gender: Tom Clan: RiverClan Rank: Warrior Age: 16 Moons Description: Large, thick furred, white tom with one blue eye and one green eye. His fur is as white as newly fallen snow, and as thick as mud. It is soft to the touch and, if a cat were to put their head in his shoulder, their head would disappear into Viperstrike's long fur. It is soft like bird feathers and fun to touch. He keeps it well groomed, so this tom's coat is also looking good and sleek. His legs, though they may look short and stubby with his long fur, are actually long and powerful. They can carry him at impressive speeds and can help with long strides.
His paws are large and just as strong. One blow from Viperstrike's paw will have you seeing birds flying around your head for some time, if it doesn't half blind you. Viperstrike's claws are the size of any cats, but he sharpens them daily to deadly points. They can rip through flesh and tear out great chunks of fur, but whose claws can't do that? However, one swipe over your eyes with these claws will blind you if blows to your head don't. Viperstrike's shoulders are broad and strong. It isn't easy to see the muscle through his thick fur, but you can tell when he is pushing them to their limit.
His head is broad as well and can easy throw a cat of balance given the right angle and the right amount of strength. His teeth are sharp and long, though you can't see them unless he pulls his lips back. They can give a nasty wound, so don't get caught in Viperstrike's jaws, he won't let go until you beg him for mercy. What is really eye popping about this tom, however, are his eyes. Viperstrike's right eye is blue, while the left is green. His back legs are a little longer than his front ones, but this isn't visible unless you look extra closely. As for his tail, Viperstrike has a long, sweeping tail. The fur on his tail drape over the vertebrae and swish in the wind like grass in the WindClan moorelands. Personality: Viperstrike is an extremely loyal cat. He protects the warrior code as if it were his kit, and he annoys his clan with his need to preserve the code. If he thinks anyone is breaking the code, Viperstrike isn't afraid to confront them about it. He is hostile to enemy cats and will slice any cat who takes a mate from another clan, whether that cat be in his clan or another. Viperstrike feels that everyone must follow the code, or what is the point of it even existing? He is so loyal to RiverClan that Viperstrike will kill any cat, without hesitation, who threatens him, his family, his friends, or RiverClan in general. Viperstrike isn't afraid to kill, but tries not end lives if there is another option.
He is also fiercely protective. Again, he would kill to protect his clan. He cares about RiverClan and isn't afraid to slice anyone who thinks that he or his clan are weak. He would never give away any secrets even if death was threatened if he didn't cooperate. Viperstrike isn't afraid to die, he would happily join StarClan if it meant that RiverClan's secrets stayed secret. He wouldn't be afraid to die if he died for reason, but if Viperstrike did die for no reason he would make sure his killer knew it. Even in death, Viperstrike would be the one to warn RiverClan of danger and protect them still even if he wasn't alive.
Kind and caring is what Viperstrike is all about toward RiverClan. He may look fierce and intimidating, due to his massive size and strength, but he knows he isn't the biggest, strongest cat out there. Viperstrike knows there are larger, meaner cats out there than him, but he would fight them all if he needed to if it meant his friends, family, and clan thrived when he died. With kindness, however, comes playfulness. Viperstrike isn't very playful, but when he is he is usually dealing with kits. Viperstrike is also patient, kind, and gentle with kits. He would never dream of hurting a kit physically or emotionally, no matter which clan they belong to. He wants his own kits some day and hopes he lives to see that day. History (optional): KITHOOD
Viperkit was born in RiverClan. His mother was an ambitious cat, but she was a nice cat. She cared about him and his sister Lilykit as much as she cared about the clan. He loved to play with Lilykit and his mother, who's name was Echobreeze. She was a beautiful white she-cat with sparkling blue eyes and one hind paw that was as black as the night sky. Her fur was thick and soft and warm, her heart was even more so. His father was Lionclaw. He was a magnificent golden tom with blazing amber eyes. He was a very respected warrior of RiverClan, of all the clans. Everyone respected him, and admired him, either secretly, or obviously. He was as playful as his kits and loved to play moss ball and camp defense with Viperkit, and he loved to play hide and seek with Lilykit. Lionclaw spent all his spare time with his mate and children when he wasn't out patrolling or hunting or resting from his warrior duties. Viperkit loved to explore as well, he would often wander around the camp strutting like his father, trying to look as big and tough as Lionclaw. The warriors liked Viperkit, they could see Lionclaw's boldness and courage and raging spirit in Viperkit. It was one day that Viperkit was bold enough to sneak into the leader's den.
He walked casually across the clearing, tail and head high. The warriors nodded to the white kit as he passed them, and he nodded back, his green and blue eyes staring straight ahead. The warriors purred with amusement. "He walks just like Lionclaw. No fear." One warrior whispered as Viperkit walked across the camp. "Look at him holding his head and tail high. Just like Lionclaw!" Another muttered. Viperkit's heart fluttered in his chest, even more proud that Lionclaw was his father. Viperkit finally reached the leader's den and took a good sniff inside. Jadestar's scent was faint as though she hadn't been in there since the peek of dawn. He looked around as though surveying the camp. Nobody was watching him as he slipped inside. The floor was sandy, soft and cool against Viperkit's pads. He sank to his ankles in the sand and bounded over to Jadestar's nest, sniffing it and drinking in her scent. "Wow..." He mewed softly, looking around. The ceiling was tall and rounded, made of stone. Suddenly, Viperkit heard voices outside. Jadestar's voice! He knew there was no chance of getting out of the leader's den now, not without getting caught. He buried himself in the sand under Jadestar's nest and stifled a squeak of panic as it pushed him into the sand. Jadestar must be using her nest! But the weight was brief. It disappeared as fast as it had been put on the kit.
Viperkit wriggled deeper into the sand, only his bright, pink nose was visible so the tom could breath. "My kit! Where's my kit!?" A voice in the clearing rang in Viperkit's buried ears, vibrating through the sand. Uh oh... Viperkit recognized his mother's shriek of panic. He heard his father yowling across the clearing. "Search the camp! Look in every den and corner!" Lionclaw demanded as the camp exploded into chaos. Viperkit felt the sand around him shake and vibrate as every kit, apprentice, warrior, and elder searched the camp ravenously for Viperkit. Suddenly, something grabbed hold of his scruff. He let out a pitiful mew of shock and surprise as the sand fell off his face. He opened his blue and green eyes to see Jadestar's chest. Double uh oh! Viperkit thought. Now I'll never get to be an apprentice! I'll be in so much trouble she won't allow it! Viperkit's thoughts raced as fast as WindClan warriors in his head. As Jadestar emerged from her den with Viperkit in her jaws, the camp immediately stopped with dead silence. A wail echoed in the back of the camp behind a crowd of warriors and apprentices. "My kit!" Echobreeze yowled as she forced herself roughly through the crowd. She thrust her nose at Viperkit, sniffing his anxiously and covering him with licks.
Jadestar put him down and looked at two large toms. "Find Lionclaw's and Stormpelt's patrols. Tell them we found Viperkit." She said, her voice stern. The toms nodded their heads and bolted for the camp entrance, disappearing into the tunnel. It was only a few heartbeats later that Lionclaw exploded through the tunnel and skidded to a halt, his amber eyes scanning the camp quickly until they fell on Viperkit, crouching with shame between Jadestar and Echobreeze. Lionclaw bounded over to Viperkit and prodded him in the side softly with the curve of a large, gleaming claw. Viperkit shuddered as he looked at the hook claw. Great StarClan! I'd hate to be any cat fighting him in a battle. That claw is huge! Viperkit thought privately as a rough tongue stoked his head between his snow white ears. "Where was he?" Lionclaw's deep voice sounded softly, as though the tom were whispering. "He was in my den under my nest. I moved it and saw his nose. He must've been exploring in there when I got back from my patrol and hid under my nest when I came into my den." Jadestar mewed softly. "He sent the camp into a panic. Viperkit, never do that again!" Echobreeze scolded the kit with a hiss. "Poor little bugger was just curious." Lionclaw snapped back and placed a large, golden paw in front of Viperkit as though shielding him from Echobreeze's rage.
"He shouldn't have been there in the first place!" Echobreeze snarled, Lionclaw bared his teeth and flattened his ears, his golden pelt bristling and his tail lashing like a whip behind him. "He was curious, Echobreeze! What kit doesn't wonder what the leader's den looks like!? He's safe now, isn't that all that matters!?" Lionclaw arched his strong back as though he were about to rip Echobreeze to pieces. "Please!" Viperkit mewled loudly as he got between his mother and father. "Please! Don't fight!" Viperkit never saw his parents fight before, and it scared him to the bone. Lionclaw's pelt instantly flattened and he lowered his lips, looking at Viperkit with soft, amber eyes. "All is well, my son. Me and your mother and just having a discussion." Lionclaw soothed. "No! I'm not a fish-brain! Your fighting! I don't want you to fight!" He pleaded before bolting through the forest of warriors and apprentices and dove into the nursery. "Now look what you did!" Echobreeze yowled in the clearing. "What I did!?" Viperkit buried himself in the belly fur of his mother's friend Lilyfur. She licked him softly. "It's okay, dear. Just sleep." Her soft voice whispered into Viperkit's ear as he forced himself to relax and fell into sleep...
Apprenticeship
Viperkit had lived his kithood, but it was time he grew up. It had been three moons since he snuck into the leader's den and not once did he try it again. He became an apprentice, given Lionclaw, his father, as his mentor. But in those three months since his incident with the leader's den, Viperpaw's parents Echobreeze and Lionclaw fought more and more, and then one day Lionclaw said something that shattered Viperpaw's heart. It had happened at sun high and his parents were fighting as usual. And as usual, the cats of RiverClan stayed in their dens or in the shadows of the camp as Lionclaw and Echobreeze fought. The sun was high and they were fighting with claws out. They were yelling at each other, but the clan expected them to rip one another to pieces any minute. They always fought about the same thing. "You should have kept a better eye on him!" Lionclaw growled, his golden pelt bristling as it gleamed in the midday sun. "I was making dirt! You could've been watching him as well!" Echobreeze, with her snow white fur bristling, yowled with rage. "I was leaving on patrol! I had tasks to complete, patrols to go on, a clan to feed!" Lionclaw snarled. Echobreeze swiped a paw at the golden warrior's muzzle, her claws ripping through his lip and spraying blood across the ground. Viperpaw closed his blue and green eyes, turning his head away as Lionclaw threw himself at Echobreeze, his claws raking her sides. Their verbal fights always turned into physical fights, claws out and teeth flashing. She shrieked with pain and rage and pummeled Lionclaw in the belly when he pinned her down.
He snarled with fury and bit into her shoulder, blood swelling from the wound and staining Viperpaw's mother's beautiful snowy pelt. Viperpaw shut his eyes so tight that it hurt, wishing his parents would stop fighting and just be close again as they once were. It's my fault their fighting. He thought to himself as his parents' fought in the center of the clearing. Fur brushed his and a soothing voice filled his ears. "It's not your fault, you know." Lilyfur spoke softly. "It is my fault. If I hadn't gone into Jadestar's den then my parents would still be mates, they wouldn't want to kill each other every day or fight each other like the other is a badger invading the camp." Viperpaw sighed. "Your mother just can't let it go. That is the problem. Not you." Viperpaw leaned against the tortoiseshell she-cat. Suddenly, a terrified screech pierced Viperpaw's ears. He whipped his head around to see his father leaning over Echobreeze, his long fangs flashing in the sun. He had pinned Echobreeze to the ground, his claws sinking into her chest and stomach. His head was back against his shoulders. Lionclaw looked like a cornered snake, poised and ready to strike. Viperpaw had never seen his parents' fight like this, and he knew what was coming next. Lionclaw thrust his head down, his teeth bared and heading straight for Echobreeze's exposed throat.
Viperpaw yowled with terror, running as fast as he could across the clearing and barreling into Lionclaw, the golden tom's teeth grazing the skin on Echobreeze's neck. The two toms tumbled across the clearing, warriors scrambling to get out of the way. Viperpaw was almost as large as his father, even though the white apprentice was only seven moons old. He held his exhausted father down and looked at his mother with a scared look on his face. Echobreeze looked just as terrified as her son. She stumbled to her paws, her blue eyes wide with shock as she stared at Lionclaw, who was struggling to get free from Viperpaw, with disbelief. "You-You tried to kill me..." She whispered. Lionclaw stopped struggling, his eyes distant as his former mate's words sank in. He blinked and his eyes raked the clearing with shock and disbelief. "I-I-I..." He started to say, "You tried to kill me!" Echobreeze's outraged yowl pierced the clearing as she charged at the pinned Lionclaw. "Somebody! Stop her!" Viperpaw wailed desperately. If Echobreeze knocked Viperpaw off of his father, she would surely kill Lionclaw. A large, black tom broke from the crowd at full sprint and barreled into Echobreeze, holding her down with his strong paws. He looked at Viperpaw and nodded, Viperpaw blinked his appreciation as Jadestar emerged from her den, pelt bristling.
The RiverClan leader looked at Viperpaw holding down Lionclaw, and the black warrior holding down Echobreeze. "What's going on?" Jadestar demanded. Viperpaw told her what had happened and Jadestar listened with keen interest. When the apprentice had finished, Jadestar looked at Lionclaw and Echobreeze with sorrow in her eyes. "You two used to be best friends. You were one cat once, one soul. You belonged together like fish and a river. What happened to that?" She asked. Viperpaw looked at his father, wondering the same thing. Neither Lionclaw or Echobreeze could answer. Jadestar sighed. "Seeing as though your bond has been broken and you seem all to willing to kill each other, one of you must go." Jadestar's mew was hoarse with grief. "Echobreeze, you must leave clan territory and never return. You showed bad judgement the day Viperpaw snuck into my den. You seem unwilling to let go of the incident while Lionclaw seems eager to forget about it. This is why he stays, and you go." Jadestar sighed. "Escort her out of clan territory." Jadestar flicked her tail to Lionclaw, Viperpaw, and the black tom. They padded out of camp, surrounding the miserable Echobreeze. It wasn't easy for Viperpaw to take part in the exile of his mother, but he knew that he would never forgive her for trying to kill his mentor, his father. Nothing exciting had happened after that except that four moons later, Viperpaw became Viperstrike. He has only been a warrior for half a day. Other: None.
